DURAN DURAN
GLAM POP PARTY 1981-2006
Two authors in their early thirties put together passion
and documents for the first Italian biography book about Duran
Duran. The history of the most famous group of the second
British Invasion, that big wave of mid-80´s pop artists
who conquered the world, is full of fascinating anecdotes
and surprising encounters. That is why the story told here
is more like an unpredictable party. The 14 chapters take
us on a journey throughout Duran Duran discography, flavored
with exclusive memories of those who were lucky enough to
work or be witness of the tremendous success of the "Fab
Five". It was a time when Lady D went to see them playing
live, Andy Warhol wanted to photograph them and Madonna sneaked
into their backstage to check a glimpse of the celebrity circuit
that surrounded them. On the background of the narration,
Italy and the special fidelity relationship between the band
and the country that loves them most.
CONTAINTS
The book follows chronologically all of their career, from
the foundation in 1978 to the present day. The chapters analyse
the musical and social innovation of the phenomenon, revealing
unknown trivia about the writing process, the career moves
and the interaction of the members with the culture of the
times. Exclusive interviews with producers (Nile Rodgers,
Daniel Abraham), directors (Kagan & Grief), designers
(Frank Olinsky, Malcolm Garrett) lead the reader through a
creativity universe that does not only regard the career of
Duran Duran, but chronocycles popular music and the history
of the tendencies of the last 25 years. Finally, here you
are, 304 pages packed with info and facts from an Italian
perspective. The definite history book that Italian "duranies"
wanted to read for a long time.
